A Nordland adventure awaits you. Simply looking at the Nordland nature is an adventure in its own right. Nordland offers a wide range of activities, most of which take place outdoors. You can experience anything from a plethora of isles and skerries to lofty mountains, from sandy beaches to precipitous cliffs, from lush valleys to vast glaciers, from towering peaks to extensive mountain plains, from deep caves to panoramic views, from urban areas to wilderness. Irrespective of your own proficiency and preferences, Nordland will have something to offer you.
Nordland has always been dependent on our coastline and the fishing industry. To experience our beautiful coastline you can amongst others go deep-sea fishing, scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking, sperm- and killer whale safaris, cycling, hiking and skiing.
The Vega islands became the first Norwegian cultural landscape to be inscribed on UNESCO's prestigious World Heritage list. The archipelago consists of approx. 6000 islands, islets and skerries and is located farthest south in Nordland, out in the sea along the coast of Helgeland. The distinctive interaction between people and nature was the most important reason why the Vega islands became a World Heritage area.
Furhermore the whole of Nordland can enjoy bright sunlit nights from the end of April until the middle of August. The Midnight sun is visible from around May 19 to July 23 depending on where you are north of the Artic Circle during this period. Nordland has also a front seat when it comes to the Northern Lights.
Welcome to the worlds most beautiful coastline.
