Arad

ARAD COUNTY is located in the Western part of Romania, at the common border with Hungary and represents the entrance gateway of the Occidental Europe to the South-East of the continent.

The city of Arad, the residence of Arad County, is an important trading centre, as well as industrial and cultural. With a millenary history and an outstanding atrophic patrimony, also favoured by its geographical position - on the riversides of Mures - the city of Arad could be an attractive tourist destination, especially regarding its cultural component. The old historic centre, full of art and architecture monuments - combining different styles such as Baroque, Renaissance, Eclectic-Secession, dominant in certain periods - outlines the image of an European city, formerly called "the little Vienna". Among them, we mention: The Administrative Palace, the building of the City Hall, the City Council and the Perfect, Cenad Palace, Neumann Palace, Szantay and Bohus Palaces, Cultural Palace.

The natural environment, the variety of landscapes (the alternation between hill - plain - mountain), the hydrographical resources, the hunting and fishing patrimonies, the natural reservations and parks (the Mures Meadow, the Botanical Garden of Macea, the Park of Savarsin) structure the main touristic routes: the Valley of Mures, the Valley of White Cris - with a lot of potential for developing agro-tourism, Arad vineyards  (with a perspective for rerouting "the Wine Route" in Minis - Ghioroc, Pancota, Baratca areas), the mountain area of Codru Moma - Moneasa, watering resort of national interest. In fact, the resources of geothermal and mineral water are an alternative to "watering" routes, hiking and sportive leisure. A diverse cultural offer - festivals, concerts, exhibitions, traditional holidays and well preserved customs outline inter-cultural character due to the ethnic cohabitation between Romanians, Hungarians, Germans, Slovakians, Serbians and Bulgarians.
