Main landscape (mountains, urban areas, etc.): The landscape is composed of the Moldavian Plain, the Central Moldavian Plateau and Suceava Plateau. In the central and north-eastern parts, almost half of the county’s surface is covered by hills and tablelands and is crossed by the Jijia and Bahlui rivers. The western part comprises high hills and tablelands (of over 400 m), as well as areas represented by the watersides of Siret and Moldova rivers. The southern part has a high and massive landscape (350-450 m) crossed by Barlad and Vaslui rivers. The hydrographical network is formed of rivers with various sizes and ponds resulting from water supply works made in order to avoid floods and to keep the water excess, necessary during the dry periods.
Main climate: Iasi County has a transitory temperate-continental climate, typical for central Europe, with four defined seasons. The local differences are due to altitude and to the continental influences in the east.
Main tourist activities: The main types of tourism in Iasi County are: cultural tourism, religious tourism, museum tourism, ethnographic tourism, medical tourism, sports tourism, business and transit tourism.

Main cultural events: - “Iasi Holidays” is a special event organised every year by Iasi City Hall, on the occasion of the celebration of Saint Parascheva, the protector of Moldavia (the 14th of October). Of all the important activities which are developed on this occasion, we mention Meal and Tea for the Pilgrims, Historic Costumes Promenade, the „Pogor” Prizes Awards, the Traditional Songs and Dances Festival Trandafir de la Moldova, open air shows and concerts, the Autumn Fare and the Wine Festival, sports competitions etc.
