Satu Mare County is situated in the North West of Romania, in the cross-border area with Hungary and Ukraine. The administrative structure of the county is the following: two cities (Satu Mare and Carei), three towns (Negresti Oas;,Tasnad, Ardud) and 226 villages.

Satu Mare County has a rich tourism potential, with development possibilities of the mountain tourism (Oas and Codru areas), the entertainment tourism (Valea Mariei, lake from Calinesti Oas, lake from Oteloaia, Noroieni, Homoroade, Crucisor, forests, etc.) and the tourism for bathing and for cure (Tasnad, Beltiug, Acis). The relief is very diverse: here one can find also mountainous areas such as Luna Ses (1 200 m) where the beautiful forests and the springs with mineral water welcomes the tourist every season, lakes, rivers, hills and plains and also beautiful urban areas (Satu Mare, Carei, Tasnad, Negresti Oas).

The county has, also, areas with a high ethno-folkloric value, favorable for the development of rural tourism. Very well known for its culture and traditions is the area called Oas Land which is renowned through architectural historical vestiges and popular art.

As concerns the infrastructure, Satu Mare County has: the road infrastructure composed of 1604 km of roads, the railway infrastructure with 220 km of railway and 52 railway stations. Satu Mare city has also an international airport, which is situated at 14 km from the center of the city. The internal transport is made only towards the capital of the country, Bucharest. So, he who wants to come to Satu Mare has the possibility to come either by plane, either by car or train.
