What tourism infrastructures and facilities does your region offer?
In Satu Mare county there are some natural protected areas, among which we mention the following:
1. Dendrological park from Carei
One of the most attractive tourism-objectives of Satu Mare county is the Károlyi castle from Carei, constructed in the style of the knighthood period. The castle is surrounded by a valuable dendrological park of 10 hectares, with more than 100 exotic and native species. In the castle functions the Town Museum with archaeological and nature science exhibitions, the Library, photo exhibitions and there are organized cultural programs too. In the surrounding park functions an equestrian camp and their chaise is for rent for any occasion.
2. Tur River natural preserve
Lower flow sector of the Tur river is rich in habitats slightly or never disturbed by human activities. It includes wet meadows (wet grasslands and hayfields with Alopecurus pratensis and Sanguisorba officinalis), abandoned hayfields during natural reforestation with native species next to forests, mixed deciduous forests(types: old, deciduous natural forests, marshy, deciduous forests, alluvial forests, floodplain forests, reforested grasslands, oxbows and banked old streams of the river in different stage of filling up), fishponds from Adrian and Bercu Nou, important habitats for their avian fauna.
3.Turf bogs from Oas – Gutai Mountains
The turf bogs has been proclaimed to be under protection because of their scientific value from floristic point o f view. They are situated on mountain slopes of moderate steepness, mostly in pristine volcanic craters or other negative landforms, partly drained by streams. They occur on the Osan - Maramuresan andesite volcanic plateau: Turf bog from Maraus, Turf bog Trestia, Turf bog Taul cu gandacul, Turf bog Izvorul Afanari. The turf bogs’ complex habitat even in spite of their small surface conserved various important relict species. Every turf bog is a warehouse of paleo-climatic and paleo-floral data by the species sheltered here and by the layers of the turf that conserves pollens and seeds and other important witnesses of the past vegetation.
