Tulcea

Tulcea County is a contrasting land: is it home to the youngest European territory, the Danube Delta, which sits alongside Europe's oldest mountains, the Dobrudja range.

Tulcea County is a model of multiethnic common life, with 17 ethnic minorities living in the area.

The Danube Delta is the most important protected wetland area in Europe and, from a biodiversity standpoint, is the fourth richest in fauna diversity in the world (after the Great Barrier Reef, the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon Rainforest).

Tulcea also includes Sulina Town, the easternmost point of the 2007 enlarged European Union and the former headquarters of the European Commission of the Danube.

Then there is Northern Dobrudja, which is a mixture of civilisations Greek, Roman, Ottoman and Slav (Russian). There is also Sf. Gheorghe seaside - one of the wildest and finest sand beaches on the old continent.

Tulcea County is accessible by all means of transport, even kayak and canoe.
