Tulcea

  • How would you define your region's tourism potential ?
    A pre-eminently composite universe, Tulcea County is full of surprises and charm. From the thick reeds, marshes and forests of the Delta, to the dry, sunburned steppes; from the far-stretching fields of wheat and the bright red of poppies dotting them, to the broken granite cliffs of the Macin Mountains, the face of the land changes almost imperceptibly, just like in a mirage.
  • Does the geographical and/or historical specificities of your region offer potential for certain forms of tourism?
    Yes. Cultural tourism: Different types of cultural sites within wild and amazing landscapes;
    Agro tourism (Rural tourism) – over 300 pensions and guest houses especially in the Danube Delta area, offering accommodation, meals and entertainment in a typical local atmosphere.
    Scientific tourism – Both the Danube Delta and the Macin Mountains offer a suitable framework for studies and research for ornithologists, specialists, researchers, students etc. Traces of ancient civilisations are spread all over the country and much remains unexplored.
    Eco-tourism – natural food, ancient forms of heating, no environmental impact in almost all villages of the Danube Delta
  • What does your region do about that?
    An aggressive promotion activity – booklets, folders, international and domestic tourism fairs and exhibitions, joint touristic marketing on Danube River axis.
    Deep involvement of local authorities in access to infrastructure facilities
    Support for tourism SMEs in accessing European Union Funds
  • What tourism infrastructures and facilities does your region offer?
    - Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve
    - “Macin Mountains” National Park.
    - facilities: rent crafts, horse riding, safari, fishing, hunting
