Odesa region occupies one of the most advantageous positions among all the tourist areas in Ukraine due to its tourist and recreational potential. A favorable geographic location, an advanced network of international and local transport connections, a broad tourist infrastructure, and a rich cultural heritage provide a capacity to host approximately 1 mln visitors to Odesa Region annually.
The natural recreational resources of the Region are its coastal climate, sandy beaches, curative mud, estuary salt water and mineral springs. Odesa Region ranks second after the Republic of Crimea in terms of natural curative resources and recreational health facilities.
The uniqueness of the tourism-recreation potential in Odesa Region lies in its multinationality and in the variety of historical, architectural and cultural sites. These sites are well known all over the world. The Odessa State Theater of Opera and Ballet, Potyomkinskaya stairs, the Ukrainian VeniceVilkovo town, the fortress in Belgorod-Dnistrovsk town (the settlement is to celebrate the 2500th anniversary this year), the ruins of the ancient cities of Tira and Nikoniya, architectural monuments in Odesa, Izmail, Reni, Kiliya and many other places of interest are to be found in the region.
There are 92 wild life reserve zones, including the Danube biosphere preserve, Danube and Dniestr wetlands, landscape park 'Tiligulskiy', botanic garden of Odessa National University, 19 national parks, etc.
Currently Odesa Region offers a diverse array of recreational and entertainment facilities (more than 750 sanatoria, hotels, recreation centers etc.).
